Experiences:
We here at Winged Oasis Parrot Rescue had (in the past) learned a valuable lesson the hard way.
One of our beloved parrots that appeared to be completely healthy, tured out to be not so healthy. Unbeknown to us at the time of his adoption, there seem to be a potential health hazard is contagious to humans, other pets and birds alike, if precautions are not taken. Fortunately for us, we took and take precautions with every arrival.
The parrot had been diagnosed with a disease called Clostridium (link below). He had been put through a regiment of antibiotics and multiple regiments apple cider vinegar water during his quarantine period and for months to follow. The bird in question was never out with another bird at any time, nor did they ever cross paths via feces. We always washed his cage last (just by co-incidence), and always washed our hands between cleaning cages. This helps keep the chances of spreading such a disease that the bird has.
As a precaution, to all the rest within our rescue, including our personal beloved parrots, all birds tested came back with clear healthy results.
